Repair Terms & Agreement
These terms are meant to keep the repair process clear, fair, and predictable.
- Authorization to diagnose. Customer authorizes Slothy's PCs / Chris Bennett to inspect and diagnose the submitted device.
- Diagnostic fee. Diagnostic fee is $35 unless otherwise stated. If the issue is fixed during a quick diagnostic, the total may be around $50. If I cannot identify the issue or provide a useful next step, I may waive the diagnostic fee.
- No guaranteed repair. I will make reasonable efforts to diagnose and repair the device, but I cannot guarantee every issue can be fixed.
- Customer approval required. No parts will be purchased and no major repair will be performed without customer approval. Customer is responsible for the cost of approved parts.
- Parts. Parts are not included unless specifically stated. Customer may provide parts, but I am not responsible for defective, incompatible, used, or incorrect customer-provided parts.
- Data loss. Customer understands repair work can involve risk of data loss. Customer is responsible for backing up important files before service unless they specifically request a backup service. I will ask before doing anything expected to erase files, such as reinstalling Windows or resetting a device.
- Passwords and privacy. Customer may provide passwords only if needed. I will only access files/settings necessary for diagnosis or repair. Customer should remove private/sensitive files if they do not want them accessed. I will not browse personal files unless needed for the requested service.
- Pre-existing issues. Devices may have pre-existing damage, failing parts, liquid damage, corrupted software, malware, or other problems. Slothy's PCs is not responsible for pre-existing issues or failures that occur due to already failing hardware.
- Hardware risk. Customer understands that some devices, especially older, damaged, custom-built, or previously repaired devices, may worsen or fail during normal troubleshooting due to existing conditions.
- No warranty on customer-provided parts. Customer-provided parts are not warranted by Slothy's PCs.
- Limited workmanship support. Repairs performed by me include 7 days of workmanship support after pickup for the same exact issue, excluding new issues, software changes, malware reinfection, physical damage, liquid damage, or failing parts.
- Payment. Payment is due at pickup/completion unless otherwise agreed. Accepted payment methods include Cash, Zelle, Cash App, Venmo, or another agreed method.
- Pickup window / abandoned devices. Customer must pick up the device within 14 days after being notified it is ready unless another arrangement is made. After 30 days with no response or pickup, storage fees may apply. After 60 days with no response or pickup, the device may be considered abandoned to the extent allowed by law. This policy covers storage and time, and reasonable contact attempts will be made before further action.
- Drop-off and pickup by appointment. Drop-off and pickup are by appointment only at 9318 S Sawyer Ave, Evergreen Park, IL 60805.
- Liability limit. To the extent allowed by law, liability is limited to the amount paid for the service, not including the value of the device, lost data, lost time, or other indirect damages.
- Agreement. By submitting the form and typing their name, customer confirms the information is accurate and agrees to the repair terms.
